Roofing FAQ

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most shingle roofs on a single-family home are torn off and replaced in one to two days. Metal and larger or steeper roofs can take longer; your proposal lists the schedule.

Can you repair my roof instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. If the damage is limited and the roof has life left, we’ll quote a repair and tell you so. We only recommend a replacement when the roof needs one.

Do I need a permit for a new roof?

Many Maryland counties require a permit for a roof replacement. We check with your county and pull the permit when one is required.

Do I need to be home during the install?

Not for the whole job. We need access to the driveway and an outdoor outlet, and we walk the finished roof with you at the end.

What warranty do I get?

Every roof carries our 1-year workmanship warranty, on top of the shingle or panel manufacturer’s material warranty.

Storm damage & insurance claims

Storm damage? Here’s how it works, the honest way

Wind and hail can lift, crease or bruise shingles in ways you can’t see from the ground, until the roof leaks. If your roof took real storm damage, homeowner’s insurance is usually meant to cover it.

How we help

  • A free inspection, with dated photos of any real damage we find
  • You file the claim with your own insurance company; it’s your policy and your claim
  • We give you clear documentation and a professional estimate to support it
  • We can meet your adjuster on site so nothing gets missed on the roof
  • Once the claim is approved, we replace the roof to the approved scope
  • Your out-of-pocket on an approved claim is normally your deductible

What we will never do

  • Promise a “free roof”
  • Negotiate your claim or interpret your policy for you. That’s a licensed public adjuster’s job, not a contractor’s
  • Inflate damage or add work that isn’t needed

No storm damage? We’ll tell you that too, and you’re under no obligation.

Pair it with the rest of the exterior

New gutters and siding go on best when the roof is done. Doing them together means one crew, one schedule and one proposal.
